Pirates on the horizon!

With this expansion, you can expand and deepen the base game of Catan, making it even more exciting and adventurous.

Set sail into unknown waters to establish settlements on newly discovered islands. An exciting adventure awaits as you explore hidden pirate camps and defeat dangerous pirates. Fill your ships’ holds with fish and spices, and deliver these valuable goods back to Catan for generous rewards.

Together with the base game, this expansion can be played by 2 to 4 players aged 12 and above. Playing time increases to approximately 2 hours (120 minutes).

The Explorers & Pirates expansion consists of several different scenarios. Together with the other players, you will explore the uncharted seas surrounding Catan. Once new islands are discovered, you can establish settlements there and take advantage of the resources you find. Discovering and settling new lands is the central focus of the first scenario, which also serves as the foundation for all scenarios that follow.

In later scenarios, the Council of Catan sends players on various missions and assignments. You will need to conquer pirate hideouts, discover fishing grounds rich with fish, and deliver your catches back to the Council. You will also encounter islands rich in spices and establish profitable trade with their inhabitants.

To successfully explore the mysterious seas and complete your missions, the expansion introduces many new gameplay elements, including settlers, ships, harbors, ship crews, pirate ships, shoals of fish, and spice sacks.

Victory points are earned by building regular and harbor settlements, as well as by successfully completing missions.
